Our primary association is with Clan Gunn. The Robins/Robbins line is also claimed by the Clan Donnachaidh and was according to ancient Scottish documents a primary family of the Clan McGregor. A "primary family" unlike a sept was not a name used in place of the McGregor name, but was a honored and protected family that retained their own family name. I have also found references to this relationship on the Internet. I have personally seen the name listed with the McGregor line in several very old publications. Though many modern publications do not list the family as a sept, nor do they make reference to it as a primary family of the Mc Gregor Clan.
The Ro-Byns - ROBINS lines origins are in the Normandy Region of France. Their geneaology is Viking and Frank. Though many were Knights of the French Court, they were still considered to be Vikings, and were paid a bounty to leave the rest of France alone. Our ancestor rode with William the 1st, "The Conqueror", during the "Norman Invasion of 1066 a.d." The family recieve title to lands at Long Buckby in Northamptonshire, England.
